This item appears in a newspaper advertising in 1913 and still well-known mineral water.
There are two theories about the origin of the name of Acqua Claudia. Some could come from the ancient Via Clodia, which is closely related to the Water Villa Claudia of Bracciano Lake. Some argue however that the derivation of the name would be put in relation to the Emperor Claudius, the head of the Empire between 41 and 54 AD Acqua Claudia was the mineral water recognized as unique and special since second half of 1700. Effervescent natural mineral waters of Bracciano Lake have been known since Etruscan times, and consequently by the Romans. This is evidenced the ruins of an ancient bathhouse rectangular "therma Etruscan" and a circular temple which, as Strabo says, was sacred to Serapis. The depth of the Sabatini volcanoes, where is the source, gives the water a strong claudia mineralization, making it naturally carbonated.
