Florence, 1878. In the historic secret of Pharmacy of the British Legation in Via Tornabuoni, 17 founded the first formulation of the Boro-Talcum from the hands of Sir Henry Roberts, English chemist and pharmacist, careful preparation of medicines and alchemist by advanced methods. The 'innovation that Roberts is able to create with the development of his Boro-Talcum is to combine the valuable virtues of bleaching and antiperspirants, talcum powder as it finest (talc ventilated) with the healthy function of boric acid antiseptic and soothing, which give rise to mixed talc-borate, from which the name of Boro-Talcum.

Initially distributed only through the pharmacy channel, Boro-Talcum from 1908 is also present in the perfume. Inspirational Get-well Messages

The Ovaltine from 'strength ... The Machine Embroider

And here is one of the first publication of this famous drink in one way or another we all know well.
E 'dated 1924.

all began in Switzerland in 1865 where, in a laboratory of the old town of Bern, Dr. Georg Wander was trying to find a way to combat a widespread phenomenon during that period: malnutrition.
The basis of his research was to use a natural product, formerly known as a remedy for over 2000 years, derived from germinated barley seeds: malt. He was the first to use the vacuum system for the conservatives of the malt and this was very important, over the decades to maintain its tonic properties and energy often of vital importance to many children and the sick.
In 1897 his son Albert, also a chemist and pharmacist, continued development of this product by enriching it with additional ingredients, energy and improving the taste making it attractive to young and old.
These ingredients are still the basis of the recipe that are still on the shelves: the malt, egg (symbol of fertility), milk (first food of the diet of children) and cocoa.

The Ovaltine is distributed on the market in 1904 by the Swiss company Wander SA and sold in a vacuum container, but still as medical training. In a short time but also healthy and active people discovered this revolutionary beverage, in particular athletes who began to use it for its energy.
were opened in 1906 the first points of distribution in Italy and England since 1919 and its expansion was global: Americas, Asia and Africa. Today
Ovaltine is present in 100 countries wineskin. In England, America and Asia is called "Ovaltine" due to an error in transcription at the time of the first exports. For several generations the Wander SA uses the slogan "Do not you make it better, but longer" to advertise its product. Ovaltine is the sponsor of the Swiss national football team and was also advertised in the past by the legendary Pele, Brazilian soccer ace.
Following many other foods have been produced with the base of dell'Ovomaltina recipe: chocolate bars, cereal or energy drinks.
In 2008 the manufacturing facility in Neuenegg, a village near Bern, was refurbished and automated with an investment of 25 million francs.
production hours is 18000 tons is the weight of 3600 elephants adults.

the advertising industry today, license plate 1915, which relates un'aggeggio surely our grandmothers knew.

This is a kind of semi-automatic mechanism for embroidery. I have no further news about it, but searching the web I found many references on this Mr. Oscar Wichelhaus. It seems that in addition to having invented this machine embroidery has also devised a gimmick that ultimately became the predecessor of our modern sewing machines.
I also found on various e-commerce sites for vintage items, books and manuals written by Wichelhaus art of sewing and embroidery.

The Atlas Stieler

The advertisement of today is the ninth edition of the atlas Stieler.

The Atlas Stieler (German: Stielers Handatlas) was one of the most famous atlases universal in the late nineteenth and first half of the twentieth century. Published by the publisher Justus Perthes of Gotha, was published in ten editions from 1816 to 1944, takes its name from German cartographer Adolf Stieler (1775-1836), who edited the first edition. The subsequent editions are considered masterpieces of the highest scientific value due to the quality of printing and the fineness of the engraving on copper, which are distinguished by their accuracy and elegance.
History Atlas Stieler.
The first edition of the atlas, by Stieler and Christian Gottlieb Reichard (1758-1837), was entitled "Hand-Atlas über to Theile der Erde und über das Weltgebäude" ("Atlas of all parts of the Earth and World ") and distributed, like many nineteenth-century publications, files monthly between 1817 and 1823 for a total of 50 tables. Following the death of Stieler in 1836, the work was continued and enlarged by Friedrich von Stülpnagel (1786-1865), who edited the second (1845-47) and third (1852-54) edition, each consisting of 83 tables. A fourth edition was published in 1862-64 and a fifth in 1866-68 (each divided into 84 plates). However, it was only For the sixth year (1871-75, 90 boards), edited by August Petermann (1822-78), Hermann Berghaus (1828-1890) and Carl Vogel (1828-1897), the work reached a high scientific level and the unsurpassed importance to which the Stieler Atlas has become famous. The Atlas Stieler owed his fame to the enormous amount of work that lay behind every detail: the draft of a single table called for a year and a half of work, while the other two copper engraving, faced with a circulation maximum, however, could not exceed 2,000 copies (limit due to the deformation of copper in the press). Given that the sheets had to be moistened before printing was not possible to make a color print, for which the plates were hand-colored by the use of hundreds of colors. A seventh was fired between 1879 and 1882, while an eighth (of 95 boards this well in 32 files and edited by Berghaus, Vogel and Hermann Habenicht (1844-1917)) was given to the press in the period 1888-91. Despite the industry was already long gone to lithography, some Stieler Atlas plates were reproduced by the technique of pressing and colored by hand until the year 1890.

With the ninth edition (1901-05), edited by Habenicht, the work reached the threshold of one hundred plates (double the first edition) and was first printed in full with the lithographic technique, which is why is considered the most valuable in terms of typography. This innovation served to halve the price of the atlas and contribute to its dissemination to a wide audience. The centenary edition of
(1920-25, 108 plates) was edited by Hermann Haack (1872-1966) and with an index of 320,000 entries, which made him the most detailed global atlas of modern times. The ninth and tenth edition appeared also in English under the name of Stieler's Atlas of Modern Geography; similar editions were published in French, Italian and English.
Between 1934 and 1940 international edition was prepared, which remained unfinished, however, because of the war. Of the 114 tables provided they were finished anyway 84, 432 engraved on copper plates that have come down to this day.

The posters of the Pirelli

Today I placed the advertisement of a "affiche," then that is nothing more than a typical billboard on the road, found a newspaper in July 1913. Together with the image there is a small article that I report as written.

"Not only the goodness of its tires, which are becoming common in the world, the company relies on the spread of the Pirelli name. It has largely done in days gone by post, in Italy and abroad, the original poster reproduced here, without of course the effectiveness of vivid colors that draw the eye. The posters really guessed it, depicting a fox hunt in which the animal is way out order from a good tire Pirelli, meets the standards of the genius and the effect it is in fact one of the rare examples of good posters on which both pose as the eye.
Its appearance coincides with a moment exceptionally lucky par Pirelli tires, because the balance of victories in May and early June can be summarized as follows: May 12 Targa Florio with Nazzaro first and third Glory; May 12 to 15 Meeting de la Sarthe with Boillot and Garas, May 22 Tour of Italy with Oriani, 26 May - 1 June Tour of Hungary (Tatra - Adria) with Schweizer Grand Prize winner Royal Automobile Club of Hungary, with Launer winner of the Presidency of the same Automobile Club and winner of Count Zichy Racz, June 1 Meeting Huy (Belgium) Gehenniaux.
As you can see, are new branches of laurel, which increase the crown of the victorious Pirelli tire industry that the continued success and the perfect organization to be forcing more every day not only in Italy, but it can be said all over the world. "

And the history of Pirelli?

In 1872 Giovanni Battista Pirelli, twenty-four young engineer, is in Milan, Pirelli & C. The next year starts the first plant for the production of rubber. Towards the end of the century begins the process of diversification: the insulated wires for telegraphy (1879), the submarine telegraph cables (1886), the first bicycle tire (1890).
The first tire Car is 1901. With the new century come the first victory and sporting establishments abroad in Spain (1902), Britain (1914) and Argentina (1917).
Starting from the 20's, drivers such as Nuvolari, Ascari and Fangio then offer a series of victories car tires Pirelli. In 1927 it will launch the sports tire Superflex Stella Bianca.
In the early fifties was born on radial Cinturato, which will leave a mark on the history of the tires. In the meantime, Pirelli is continuing its great geographical expansion, which continues even in the sixties and seventies: in Germany is purchased Veith (tires), while in Peru (1968) and Australia (1975) created the productive activities of cables. Also in the seventies, the group gave rise to a merger with British Dunlop, and in 1986 tried unsuccessfully to buy the German company Continental. In those years, Pirelli invented the low profile tires: it is called P7 and is one of the most important inventions since the radial sprung.

The Purple Chocolate

Today I placed the advertisement that appeared in magazines of the early '900.

The history of Milka begins in mid-1800 to Neuchâtel in Switzerland, where a chocolate manufacturer, Philippe Suchard (1797 - 1884), gave further impetus to the market when, in 1826, he designed a new mixer can mix sugar and cocoa powder chocolate giving a surprising new taste. The machine consisted of granite rollers that moved back and forth on a thin plate of granite heated. This method is still used today. Suchard Serrières built his factory in a suburb of Neuchâtel, where the river originating from the local source has cut a deep gorge. Suchard, taking the idea from the water mills, was able to take advantage of the smooth flow of the river to drive machinery.
When the factory started its activity employed only two people who could produce 25 to 30 pounds of chocolate a day.
Suchard's success was not immediate: the chocolate remained an expensive food and was still regarded suspiciously by many exotic. The orders were slow in coming, but for a strange twist of history in addition to the Canton of Neuchâtel Switzerland belonged to the distant King of Prussia in 1842 and Suchard received an order from the royal court in Berlin. The factory finally managed to earn a deserved reputation both abroad and in Switzerland. Chocolate Suchard won a gold medal at the Great Exhibition in London in 1851, and another at the Universal Exhibition in Paris in 1855.
In 1880, Suchard hot chocolate was the first Swiss to open factory abroad, in Lörrach, Germany, just across the border north of Basel. In the early 1880s, the activity of Suchard covered half of the total production of chocolate in Switzerland, and only half of all employed workers in this industry.
were created in 1901 bars of chocolate Milka, Suchard and decided to package the new product in a lilac wrapper that captures attention. A choice of color that characterizes the product since its inception and remains unchanged over the years. The brand "Milka" is created by the inspired idea of \u200b\u200bmerging the two words "milk" (Milch) and "cocoa" (Kaca).
In 1972 he debuted the purple cow, which became a symbol of great impact on consumers. At the beginning of the twentieth century Suchard had realized the importance that a few years would take the advertising. Philippe Suchard Milka did so to register the mark and was soon made a production of posters, postcards, calendars, featuring evocative images that evoked the desire for chocolate and at the same time linked the product to the idea of \u200b\u200bSwitzerland as an "ideal world".
For the design of the campaign, three elements appeared immediately congenial: the original name, the color purple and the cow in the Alps and Together they represent the image of chocolate for generations milk. Cows protagonists of the spots do exist, carefully preserved in a Swiss pasture where, under the close supervision of veterinarians and animal rights activists, are painted lilac when the script requires it but the colors are vegetable dye and is completely harmless. The
merged with Suchard Tobler in 1970 to form the Interfood AG; Interfood in 1982 was absorbed by the manufacturer of coffee making Klaus Jacobs Jacobs Suchard Tobler, in turn sold it in 1990 to U.S. multinational Philip Morris, now is' \u200b\u200bpart of the Kraft Foods.
The factory production of Serrières was gradually reduced and transferred to the Tobler factory on the outskirts of Bern in 1989. The other units remained the Suchard, the center of research and development, was transferred to Monaco of Bavaria in 1996.

What Does It Mean By Having Fluid In The Cervix

The Rise of 'The INA

We are in 1912 and this is the advertisement announcing the birth of the National Insurance as a public body to exercise the monopoly of life insurance in Italy.

Below are some extracts from the article written by journalist Augusto Biagi Annex "reading" the Corriere dei Piccoli in September 1912.

"This eminently social character of labor, since it is in possession of an essay that everyone should adopt towards the economic damage that can cause premature death to his family, was so far entrusted to private initiative. But recently, in Italy this function, which is something more and better than that of the savings, the foundation of great national wealth but it was adopted, and mature through difficult trials and lengthy discussions, the State, since the government patronage of the Minister Nitti, did the great reform of the nationalization of life insurance. The National Insurance Institute has only two months of life and its laws, and the beginning of his administration was cumbersome for many reasons ....
The audience also included in his majority - and the experience will be responsible for day to day even more convincing - the absolute convenience of contact for the fulfillment of a sacred act in everyone's life at the Institute National Insurance.
It is not only to be under the direct and continuous control of government, offers the most unlimited government guarantee, the conditions of its policy are of a donation that can not be denied, since, for example, the National Institute also provides the military PEL death at war, and for suppression of a revolt, or following injury or disease contracted in service. The funds and annuities are seizure and insurance policies issued by the National State guarantee ....

From this rapid success of a bold initiative is not, moreover, that draw the happy realization that even in Italy, if not yet at the same grade from abroad, the feeling of security is deeply planted in all classes social. The Department of State may regulate, to attract and cultivate them until they give wonderful fruits, this renewed national consciousness.
And maybe it can get closer to the day when you realize the vote, which foresee a good king of France when he wished that all the pots of all the houses of his subjects could boil a capon day: vote namely that all citizens are, by the most modern form of social security, equal protection, consistent, efficient, truly his father by the State, for themselves and their children. "

A bit 'of history: The
businesses are born separately: for the operation of life insurance is set up in 1912 the National Insurance Institute which, in more than 90 years, has collected and administered million contract that allowed him to succeed and take root in the experience of Italians.
In 1923, the INA establishes Assitalia SpA for the requirements relating to non-life and in 1927 it acquired the entire share capital over the shares of other shareholders. In 1931 Ina
promotes for the first time in Italy the "collective insurance" in order to ensure that employees of the company integrated treatment of pension or compensation for dismissal.
Plan Launched In 1949 Ina House, the largest government intervention in Italy in the construction industry, in order to increase employment working facilitating the construction of houses for workers. The plan, which ends in 1963, will see the construction of housing 350 000 5036 with the involvement of Italian municipalities. In 1968 Ina
launches life insurance adaptable to introduce for first on the Italian market, the concept of adjustment of insurance benefits to the change in cost of living index based on Istat, but restrict it to a maximum of 3% per year.
In July 1992, the Government shall determine the transformation into joint stock companies to Ina, Enel, Eni and Iri. Ina also gets well soon to join the large privatization and divestiture program launched by the government. The privatization process, after an IPO (public offering) in July 1994 for the placement of a first tranche of shares and a subsequent private placement of shares in September 1995, effectively ending in June 1996 with the sale by the Treasury securities was in pounds and dollars, Ina convertible into shares, representing 31.08% of the remaining share capital of the whole available quota held by the Treasury.
In February 2000, Ina and Assitalia become part of the Generali Group.
On 31 December 2006 and INA Assitalia, after 83 years of wonderful life together, become a single company: INA SpA ASSITALIA

The surprise of finding a Star gauge (never metaphor was more effective) by F. Sagat in a production with crimson hues such as SAW 6 will not go unnoticed.
The part is infinitesimal, a mere appearance, prevents the psychopathic torturer on duty and the neophyte actor to show us what we already intimately well known.
A missed opportunity to see a side of French unexplored, provided that one exists.

Mount And Blade Playing As A Woman

The Piramidone

Even at the beginning of the century, advertising was important for the pharmaceutical industry. Here is one of a drug that was 900 in the early forerunner of today's nimesulide, ketoprofen, paracetamol, etc ...

The Piramidone was a drug of the NSAID family of "nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs that identifies a class of medications anti-inflammatory effect, analgesic and antipyretic. They are prescribed as painkillers generic as an anti inflammatory to reduce inflammation in musculoskeletal disorders, rheumatic, joint, and the like, as well as post-surgery, as Antipyretic to decrease body temperature for fever. In particular, the molecule was the base of Piramidone pyrazole. The pyrazole is a compound consisting of a single heterocyclic aromatic ring five atoms, three carbon and two nitrogen adjacent.
molecules based on pyrazole pyrazoles are known and if they have pharmacological effects on humans are classified as alkaloids.
marketed in Italy by Meister Lucius & Bruning had some success until it was supplanted by Nimesulide in the early 50's. There is still
Piramidone?
No, thankfully 60 years after it was discovered that the drug could damage the bone marrow and was withdrawn from the market.

Why Does My Left Arm Hurt All Of A Sudden

The Radiator

Here I am with a new advertisement dated 1913.
Mr. Ferrari was manufacturing and selling of the first radiator 900.

In fact, as our radiators were used but the physical principle called "radiator".
fact, the radiator is the phenomenon in which a hydraulic system is established as a result of convective circulation only difference in density between fluid volumes at different temperatures. In common usage the term has been extended radiator to indicate the individual radiators or radiators, although in many cases the system does not adopt the principle of the same name.
But how does the radiator?
Consider a closed loop disposed on a vertical plane. If a warmer side of the pipe, the water inside the density decreases and tends to rise at the top of the ring, pushing down the water cooler already.
The water reached the top of the opposite half of the Ring (cold side) begins to lose heat to the outside, increasing density and down toward the bottom of the circuit. From here it is invoked to replace the water heater because of moves at the top, completing the cycle.
In the past this principle was widely used in heating systems. The salt water heated by the boiler to the radiators located in the housing units. Here it releases heat, increases in density and can then fall back towards the boiler.
is preferred in modern plants cause water circulation by means of pumps, according to a solution called "forced movement". The forced circulation provides several advantages, including a water flow faster than the ability to feed radiators can also sit at the same level or even lower than the boiler, as happens in small autonomous systems.

The vacuum cleaner ...

spring cleaning in 1910 you were already with the vacuum cleaner.

The vacuum cleaner was invented between 1865 and 1876 in the United States. The first aircraft, which operated manually, seems to have been developed by Ives W. McGaffey, an inventor of Chicago in 1868. In December 1900 Corinne Dufour of Savannah in Georgia, he patented the first version that worked with an engine power. But many sources say that the first patent was issued in 1876 to Anna and Melville Bissell for a device mounted on a horse-drawn carriage, with a manually operated pump and a long tube used to clean the carpets, it was called "Bissell Carpet Sweeper ".
Around 1901 Hubert Cecil Booth was surprised that the cleanliness of trains was used an apparatus that air blowing away the dust and dirt. He designed a device that was more manageable and able to vacuum the dust. He presented his invention to England but his idea was not proved popular.
The other was the American inventor James Murray Spangler, a janitor in Canton, Ohio. Using a fan, a pillow case and a built a vacuum cleaner. Together with the suction power the device also used a rotating brush. The invention patented in 1908 and sold the patent to the company of his cousin, the "Hoover Harness and Leather Goods Factory." Hoover in the United States is still one of the leading manufacturer of home appliances. In England the

's water Claudia

This item appears in a newspaper advertising in 1913 and still well-known mineral water.

There are two theories about the origin of the name of Acqua Claudia. Some could come from the ancient Via Clodia, which is closely related to the Water Villa Claudia of Bracciano Lake. Some argue however that the derivation of the name would be put in relation to the Emperor Claudius, the head of the Empire between 41 and 54 AD Acqua Claudia was the mineral water recognized as unique and special since second half of 1700. Effervescent natural mineral waters of Bracciano Lake have been known since Etruscan times, and consequently by the Romans. This is evidenced the ruins of an ancient bathhouse rectangular "therma Etruscan" and a circular temple which, as Strabo says, was sacred to Serapis. The depth of the Sabatini volcanoes, where is the source, gives the water a strong claudia mineralization, making it naturally carbonated.
Detail description of the virtues of this water in the advertisement:
"Water Claudia exceeds all similar for its light and tasty to the palate, and especially for its great effectiveness for healing of catarrh digestive tract, dyspepsia, liver disease, alteration of the metabolism and catarrh of the genito-urinary tract. "
