A bit 'of history?
The company was founded in 1806 in New York when William Colgate, an English immigrant, undertakes an activity involving the production of starch, soap and candles. The following year Francis Smith became a partner and the company name changed to "Smith and Colgate." In 1813 William Colgate finds his partner and takes as a partner his brother Bowles. The company name was changed to "Colgate and Company."

In 1926 Palmolive merged with Peet Brothers, manufacturers of soap, in Kansas City, to form the "Palmolive-Peet Company. Two years later, the merger of the "Palmolive-Peet Company" and "Colgate & Company" was the "Colgate Palmolive-Peet Company.
The company started overseas expansion with the creation of a French subsidiary in 1920. At the same time, the focus moves to Australia, England, Germany, Mexico, the Philippines, Brazil and Argentina. At the end of the decade, Colgate arrives in Africa, in India in '37 and then in South America.
And in Italy?
On April 9, 1927 a young manager named William L. Sims signed the memorandum of Palmolive Limited Company in a room at Hotel Touring in Milan. With a small sales organization and a few employees, so Sims will start marketing the Palmolive soap, imported from the USA. In short, when other products such as Colgate toothpaste, Palmolive shampoo powder, shaving cream and stick Palmolive adding supply, production begins to be carried out locally, even through third parties.
